The January low in 2019 was 21.74 yuan/kg, and as of January 15th, prices are at 77.65 yuan/kg. In the world’s largest pig herd, and with the world’s largest consumer base, this is a historic event. Many analysts agree that there is not enough excess protein in the world to fill the gap caused by ASF in the last year in China.
